Launch trips to various places of interest are available as listed below. Choose which trip you would like your group to do.
At certain times of the year, it is possible to see penguins, seals, dolphins, and even occasionally whales.
Day Trip = Depart camp 10 am, return approx 4.30 pm. Number of people – 40-45 is a comfortable number for a day trip.
Trip A – Ship Cove
Visit historic Ship Cove where Captain Cook landed. Enjoy a swim or take a walk to the waterfall (approx 30 minutes).

Trip B – Motuara Island
This island is a bird reserve and home of the South Island robin, saddleback, native wood pigeon, penguins, the endangered Kokako, and recently released kiwi. The lookout tower at the top of the island (approx 30 minutes walk) affords commanding views down the sounds as well as out to Cook Strait and across to Kapiti. This trip includes a stop at Ship Cove for lunch.

Trip C – Queen Charlotte Walkway
Join the Queen Charlotte Walkway at Resolution Bay and walk over the hill to historic Ship Cove where Captain Cook landed. (approx 2 hrs)

Trip D – Tory Channel
Visit the historic Whaling station, observe the strong tidal currents throughout the channel, see the ferries up close.

Fishing Options
Fishing can be included with Trip A or D, @ $35 per person.

Bait and some hand lines can be provided but you will need to bring your own fishing rods.
Our boat operates on a catch and release policy.
Please note that fishing cannot be included as part of the activities for Trips B or C.
